How to live a positive happy life!

A merry life, a life of happiness need not be a short one. ''You can be carefree and live a happier life if you don't take yourself too seriously'', says Dr. Daniel Casriel. A healthy life, need not be a quiet one all the time.

Many people feel guilty about being carefree, they have been conditioned that it's wrong. From early childhood they were made to feel irresponsible if they were having a good time. But a person can be perfectly responsible, law-abiding, morally conscious and still live a positive happy life. Here, I present to you these 10 tips to help you develop a more happy-go-lucky attitude towards life.

Finding happiness in life

1. Don't worry about things you can't do anything about.
Don't always get absorbed with your past success and failures, instead , spend your time trying to improve the things you can actually do something about, take care of things that have to be taken care of, like your refrigerator, leakages and whatever broken item that needs fixing around the house. There is no need worrying about getting a new apartment while you overlook your lawn leaving it all bushy and unkempt, a clean environment can really make a change in your life, it brings joy.

2. Take up a hobby.

Engage yourself with what you love doing, if you have a creative eye, for example, try painting, drawing, try singing even if you don't have a good voice just for the fun of if. If you have talented hands, build things. These will give you a feeling of well-being and it boosts your self esteem too.

3. Fight moodiness.
If something is bothering you, a good workout will often improve your state of mind, you can call a trusted friend to hangout with, or you can pursue something that has given you pleasure in the past, this can be anything at all, from hitting a golf ball to cooking a fancy meal for yourself, and avoid staying alone.

4. Don't brood over unfinished work.
Thinking about loads of projects to complete won't help bring peace of mind, you must realize that an adult's work is never finished, you will always have something to work on. Set a specific time to work on the project, then put your mind off it and be free from it for some time, you will realize that you will find a new strength and inspiration to carry on later.

5. Don't be overly competitive.
Learn not to take yourself too seriously sometimes, particularly at play. Make stupid faces, laugh at jokes funny or not and when you play with kids forget that you're an adult and be simple like them. Enjoy your recreation, whether it's a bridge game, tennis, scrabble or chess, enjoy it without feeling you have to win to have fun.

6. Learn how to blow off the steam.
Feelings that are held in will cause moodiness and prevent you from feeling carefree and happy. Don't bottle up your feelings, express them where and when appropriate, just spit it out and let it go. Life is just that simple.

7. Never let others get you down.

Very often people feel unhappy, guilty or responsible for someone else's unhappiness, when actually it is not their fault. Recognize that others are responsible for their own lives. But if that you've offended someone, go on and apologize to the person sincerely, then continue with your own life regardless their perception of you.

8. Make your decisions carefully.
Sometimes we are damned by our own decisions in life, that's why we need extra care in handling decisive matters, like in divorce case. We can save ourselves the stress of pondering over a decision we made rather carelessly without a second thought by being patient, critical and foresighted in decision making. Remember, never make a decision when you are overly excited or when you are angry, both extremes could amount to trouble. Seek advice from someone you trust, if you think you can't make a decision in a particular state of mind.

9. Help someone in need.
You can find happiness in making another person happy. You may not have to give the whole world to someone in need, but the little you have you can share. You can offer a word of consolation, a smile or your time.

10. Try to stay within your limits.

Some people seek out work or play that they are least capable of achieving. There is no harm in dreaming big, but do yourself good by finding your strong spot. A  5'2'' fellow for instance is certainly not going to be a very good footballer, but he might be a great tennis player. Try to develop the skills and talents you have.
